Merryvale 2000 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2000 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was blended from a number of vineyards throughout the mid-Napa Valley. Erratic weather during harvest and a large crop made for variable ripening. Lot selection and careful attention to the blend was particularly important in 2000. Some choice barrels of Merlot in the final blend round out the mouthfeel nicely.

Ripe, dark and intense. Anise, chocolate, plum and black currant aromas & flavors. Balanced, long finish. Age-worthy.

"A good wine, but a disappointment considering this winery’s track record. Tries to achieve opulence, but the herbal, tobaccoey edge and astringent tannins rule. Finishes dry and puckery, and there’s not enough stuffing to warrant much aging. S.H." (12/31/2003)
